autocorrect a typo when there's just one suggestion

hello!
how do i set up word to correct automatically a typo when there's only one
suggestion in the dictionary?
i mean, without having to select the correct word from the autocorrect menu.

If you know the typo and the correct spelling, set up an autocorrect (tools
autocorrect options) to change the former for the latter.

well, that's exactly what i want to avoid. i don't want to set up an
autocorrect for every typo that might occur.

i mean, if the spelling & grammar tool detects a word which isn't in the
dictionary and has only one suggestion can't it just replace the wrong word
by the correct one?

If it did you would be tearing your hair out! Far too often a misspelled
word, by the dictionary, is spelled exactly the way it should be. The real
term should be "unrecognized" word rather than misspelled.

If you right click on the words when the red wavy line appears, you can
select AutoCorrect and the word and this will happen. This is easier than
going into Tools | AutoCorrect.

I don't want Word making such decisions for me, thanks. Imagine the
proofreading that would be necessary? What about names that are very close
to a known word? What about occasionally using a foreign word? I'll admit
that a "change and add to autocorrect" button in the spelling & grammar
dialog might be a nice feature. But it is already available in the document
via right-click.

From your insistence on a specific answer, I suspect that this is a homework
question. The answer is: In the Tools | AutoCorrect Options dialog, check
the box for "Automatically use suggestions from the spelling checker." This
will replace a "misspelled" word with the spelling checker's suggestion if
there is only one. I'm with Daiya, though; I wouldn't want Word making these
decisions for me, and I have seen the ludicrous results of really bad
typists who have this option enabled.
