Autofill - A Long Way...

S

Say I have two columns of numbers in columns A and B.
I want to add the two numbers in each row.

Therefore, cell C1 would have "=A1+B1"

and I can autofill this down through column C, by dragging the bottom right
corner of cell C1

Question: what if columns A and B are 5000 rows deep?
How can I autofill down 5000 rows?

A number of ways:
Enter C1:C5000 in the name box to select that range into which to copy your
formula, or
Just double-click on the fill handle in C1.

After entering your formula in C1, enter C1:C5000 in the box to the side of
the formula bar an then press enter to highlight the range. Now select:

Edit > Fill > Down

to exend the formula to the required range.

You can also navigate to the end of your data set (CTRL + DOWNARROW) and then
from cell C5000 (assuming this is the end of your column), hit
CTRL+SHIFT+UPARROW to select the entire set of cells, then CTRL+D to fill
down.
