autofilling email addresses

Is there any way to stop outlook making a lost of just about every account I
ever send to, and then using that list to 'autofill' the email addresses as
I'm typing them in to the 'to:' box?

I don't want to switch it off altogether it's very useful as I send to the
same group of people all the time. But I also send to a bunch of other
people who I'll never send to again and don't want them clogging up the
list - and even worse - making me send to the wrong person because I didn't
notice that it added a new one in front of the one that usually shows up...

You can't have it both ways. You either use the feature or you don't. It
would appear that you should use a different feature for recipient selection
such as autoresolution or the Outlook Address Book. That way you can select
from only those Contacts you have chosen to keep track of.

Is there a way to have an autocomplete function that only references the
outlook address book? I searched on 'auto resolution' in the help file but
couldn't find it.
