Autofilter inoperable on large dataset

I have a relatively large dataset from a microarray experiment (~90 000 lines) that I want to autofilter. However, when I try to do this although the window of terms appears, the term themselves are invisible making the whole thing impossible.
I can provide a screenshot.

Unfortunately screen shots don't work in newsgroups :) but I think I know
what you're referring to... When you open the filter list on any given
field/column you don't see any data items listed -- only the commands such
as Sort Ascending, Sort Descending, etc. If I'm understanding correctly...

The most probable reason is that there is at least one empty row separating
your field names/captions from the list of records below them. In order for
AutoFilter to automatically recognize the data items in the list range the
range must be contiguous. The feature will not look beyond the last
consecutive row or last consecutive column having content

If it isn't a contiguous range you have to manually select the entire range
from captions to last record including any empty rows or columns that cause
breaks in the data. Theoretically, that will work but I can't comment on how
well & it is definitely not conducive to use of the Sort features.

If I've misinterpreted or if this doesn't solve the problem please reply
with as complete a description as you can. If we still can't get it resolved
perhaps you can upload the screen shot to a web site or email me directly.
