When you pasted you probably also pasted the formatting
into the cell. You'll need to use PasteSpecial with Values
to preserve the formatting.
To do that:
After copying, go to the cell where you want to paste.
Right click in the cell and choose Paste Special
Select Values from the Paste section, then click OK.

automatically? I seem to recall that if you hit F2 within
the cell, it would resize it. That doesn't appear to work
for me currently, and I'd obviously prefer a more
automatic method to solve my problem.
