Autonumbering problem

I have several tables which maintain the likes of clients, attorneys,
appraisers, etc.

Each of the records has a unique number.

I would like to maintain a seperate table of "Contacts" in which I will use
the unique, for example, "Client number" and then assign sequential numbers
to each contact at that clients office.

I am lost as to how to accomplish this.

Any help will be appreciated.
