autorecovery

Kristy

I have Win 98 and Microsoft Word Office 2000 version 9.0.
Even though I had autorecovery checked in options (and
also save changes every 5 minutes)after a brief electrical
outage I lost all my changes I had been working on in an
existing document. Is there any way I can retrieve it? I
can only bring up the original document but not my newer
one.
Thank you,
Kristy

Try doing a search for *.chk files or recovered.doc
files. I have found in the past that in situation such as
you described these files do get saved but with different
names. You can then rename the *.chk file to
(filename2).doc (substituting filename2 for the name of
the document and adding the 2 just incase this file is
corrupted, you don't want to lose the original as well).
