autoshape

After typing in a heading I have always gone into autoshapes and added a
rectangle around it as a heading which I can then "fill". For some reason
wherever I now put the rectangle the text moves so it is outside of the
rectangle. What I have I done?!!

You've accidentally changed the default for new shapes. Select the
rectangle, right-click, format, and experiment with the layout options
including those on the Advanced tab. You probably want 'Behind Text' and
'Allow overlap' (while you're at it, take ten minutes to learn what the
other options are. They all have their uses.) When you've got it right you
could save the rectangle as an AutoText entry. Or to use the settings by
default, right-click the object and select Set AutoShape Defaults.
