AutoText

Anne P.

Hi,

I have some questions concerning AutoText. I am adding AutoText entries to
a global template for a client. There will be some macros that will insert
these AutoText entries into documents.

Right now I am creating some stamps to insert into documents (Draft,
Personal & Confidential, etc.). These stamps are all in textboxes and they
use several styles, one of which is named Stamp and another is Stamps. When
I create the AutoText entry, it is inserted under Normal menu under Insert,
AutoText. One of the stamps that I created did go into a category named
Stamps, but I don't know how I got that one there and why I can't get the
rest of them to go there. Is there a way to force these items to go into a
category named Stamps? I need to load a listbox through VBA with the names
of the AutoText entries, but I only want the ones that are stamps to be
loaded into the list. I could just put the word stamp at the beginning of
each AutoText entry, but I'd rather not.

Also, there is a category named Mailing Instructions which has entries like
VIA FACSIMILE, VIA AIRMAIL, etc. My client wants a new method named VIA
E-MAIL. I inserted one of the existing entries in this category into a
document, changed the text and resaved as an AutoText entry, but it went
into the Normal category not into the Mailing Instructions category.

Thanks,
Anne

I don't have direct answers to your questions but have implemented something
similar using Word Art for the stamps. I put them on a custom toolbar with
custom menus. (Actually, two toolbars, one short and another with
variations.) (It also puts a little rubberstamp icon in the menubar to call
up the short toolbar.) I put rs as a prefix to my AutoText names.

If your email address is correct and you would like me to send you a copy of
it, I would be happy to do so.

Charles,

Yes, that e-mail is correct. I would appreciate it if you could send me
that.
