bar style setups

I might be double posting here coz I'm not sure my reply to a post by
starting a new thread would get any response but here goes.

Is it possible to "import" the bar styles format of a file into other files
much like what the organizer could do? I have tried using templates but is
there another way?

TIA

Hello D Pinger,

Bar styles are saved as part of the view. Create a new view and then
you can use the organizer to copy the view between files or copy to the
global template to have the view available in all new files.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Thank you, Julie.

So....if I have completed my bar style setup the way I wanted in the current
"Gantt Chart" view, I can just copy that into another file using the
Organizer or into my Global and it should now become the default, right?

I'll try that and I'll let you know.

Thanks again.

When you do this, it is much better to make a new View, usually by copying
one of the built-in or existing Views, and format that rather than just
changing the formatting in the default built-in Gantt Chart View.

Thanks for the suggestion, Trevor.

Normally, yes, but our company has a standard view for the gantt chart that
all my planners have to use and so making this as our default makes our
process and reports consistent for everyone.

I guess we can also make a new view and change the instructions to use it
instead after a schedule is developed.

Thanks all.

Hello D. Pingger and Others who may have seen this problem,

I would be cautious on using custom views because...
"The problem seems to be with the custom views. I have used the gannt chart
view and with this view I was able to filter out the tasks that are not 100%
complete. I'm not sure what happened with the custom views and the
filtering."
I solicited help from an MS Project 'expert'.
If anyone can shed light on this issue I'd appreciate it.
