Baseline and dependencies

II am adding change request to a project I have baselined. I am baselining
the change request and roll it up under the summary. Will the dependencies
that appear under a different summary task change as well.

OR will the change request and the summary task only change their baseline
dates? (This seems to be what is happening)

Hello Randluke,

There are 2 parts to your question a) Incorporating Change Control ;
(b) How the issue in (a) will affect the dependent tasks, if any.

a. When a change control is implemented, only those tasks either added
or modified by the change control should be (re)baselined. That can be
accomplished by selecting the task rows in question and when using
Tools->Tracking->Save Baseline... select the option to save only the
Selected Tasks. Generally this will also involve selecting the checkbox
to 'Roll up to summary tasks', as this will ensure that the summary
tasks are also updated with the new baselined information.

b. When a change control is implemented, I would assume that a task has
been introduced and it could impact the finish date. If some existing
tasks are also made dependent on the new task, then again, there could
be an impact.
