Hi Harsha ,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

There are so many things to be done before a project commences that you
really need to read a book. However, of one thing I am certain, you need to
appoint a project manager as soon as possible, now, so that he can do all
the necessary things needed before he commences the project.

FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at
this web address: http://project.mvps.org/faqs.htm

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :)

Hard to say, since I believe the PM should be involved asap. Depends a
lot on the organization and the industry. Some of the things that
should be done early include but are not limited to:

Project Sponsor
Primary Achievement
Alignment with corporate goals
Scope/requirements
Budget
Economic Feasibility
Organizational Capacity Compliance
High Level Risk Analysis

I'm sure others here can add to this list.

Hope this helps in your world.
