Beta Activation Key expired - -but it hasn't

Tony Hill

I've installed XPPro and Office 2003 beta on main PC no
probs. I want to test RAS on another low-spec PC (Compaq
333 64Mb RAM). Installed XP Pro. OK so far. Install
Office Pro. Run Word. Complains about 'not enough memory'
then Error message pops up (Activation wizard fails, I
think). Uninstall. Increase virtual mem. Install again.
No mem prob reported but same activation expired message.
Both ways Word runs with 'reduced functionality'. Tried
with XP Pro both activated and non activated. Uninstalled
Office. Added all critical updates. Installed again. Same
prob. Tried with ADSL connected and disconnected.

Also this is only the second PC I've tried to install
Office on, and the main PC has XP Pro and Office fully
activated and working OK using same Technet/MSDN
subscription disks - i.r. these are pukka copies for
development purposes.

So....
.....It's probebly nothing to do with XP Pro being
activated or not
.....Or wether or not XP's critical updates have being
installed.
.....Or wther the PC is connected to internet

Anyone had this prob?

Hi Tony,

If you have Office 2003 Beta 2 it did expire on 30Nov.
If you had Office 2003 Beta2+Technical Refresh installed
the expiration would be 31Jan2004.

If you have an MSDN Universal subscription then the
release copy of Office 2003 is available, with Technet+
you should have, if I recall correctly, received a trial
copy or you can order it through the Office website.
