Billable vs. Non-billable Hours Tracked In Project Server?

I was curious if there was a way in Project Server 2002 to
differentiate between billable and non-billable hours,
along with exporting those hours seperately into another
program.

I am trying to find a way to flag this within Project
Server so that our managers can see this, chart it,
manipulate it as necessary.

Thanks,

Hi,

I don't know if the feature exists in 2002, but in MSP
Server 2003, there is an option to create
an "administrative" project, where resources could show
time to tasks like general admin overhead, vacation, sick
time, etc (the tasks can be added/removed as required).
Essentially, the project server admin would make an
Administrative project and post it to project server w/o
any resources assigned. Then when a resource needs to
show time against it, they use the "assign myself to an
existing task" option, and then indicate their time on the
timesheet.

If it is present in 2002, then this may be the way to go
since all non-billable time would be in a single project.
The data in the Administrative project can then be
exported using Project Professional, SQL, or whatever
method you prefer.

HTH,
