Blank cells in large document

I have a spreadsheet that is 32 mb in size but does not
contain nearly 32 mb of information. I think the problem
is that there are many blank cells active (judging by the
right scroll bar) in some of the worksheets. Can you
help me try to fix this document so it is not so big?
There is probably a simple solution, I just don't know
what it is.

go to last column you are using
then select all columns to right (end right) delete
do same for rows down

do same for all sheet
then save and close
then reopen.

even though you have saved the book after the deletions
you have to close and reopen for the scroll bars to reset
