Blank Project

I am e-mailing my project to teammates but when they try to open it they only
see blank project -- I tried to consolidate 3 projects w/tasks that are all
related to 1 big project --- sent out to everyone individually and they
submitted back to me "their" tasks version, so I tried to consolidate & turn
into 1 project with everyone's tasks --- then share & no one can open it
w/tasks -- they just see blank project & 1 cannot even open project --- HELP!
Thanks!

Flojoe,
First, what version of Project are you using? Second, when you say
"consolidate" I assume you mean you inserted the 3 subprojects into a
single master. If so, you need to send not only the master but also the
3 subproject files.

If the users only saw a blank file, how did they submit something back
with "their tasks version"?

Hi John:

Using Project Version 2003 -- what I tried to do was take all 3 project &
add them into 1 big project & at my end I can view it & I saved it with a
totally different name & sent my partners the 1 consolidated newly named
project and they see nothing but blank project no tasks -- please help ---
thanks!

Flojoe,
Let's clarify exactly what you mean by, "...take all 3 project(s) & add
them into 1 big project...". Are you creating a consolidated master
using the Insert/Project menu item? If so and you are only sending your
partners the master file itself, then they won't be able to see the
inserted subprojects.

A consolidated master does not actually contain the inserted
subprojects, unless you unchecked the "link to project" option in the
lower right corner of the Insert Project window. What the master
contains is a set of pointers to the actual subprojects. So if you are
not also sending the subprojects to your partners, they will not be able
to see detail tasks. All they will see is the insertion point summary
line for each subproject.

Also, you mention that you are using Project 2003. Are your partners
also using Project 2003? If not, what version are they using? Do you
have update SP3 for Project 2003 installed?
