Bold not working in Word or Outlook

In Word 2003, all bolded text in every doc appears but is very faint. It also
appears faint in Print Preview, but not if actually printed out.
Similar in Outlook Calendar, with 1 hourly times down middle (eg 6am, 7 00,
8 00 etc) also faint.
This has never happened before, but started a couple of weeks ago.
Any suggestions?
