book pubishing process

I tried to post this question a few mins ago but I am not sure whether I have
managed or not. If this is appears to be a copy I am sorry.

I would like to track my resources in the period of several books pubishing.
I am entering the book's name as the task and the works to be done during the
process as ubtasks and assign resources for each subtask. For ex: I have
editors, graphic designers etc.. I would like to enter the total number of
pages for each book as the target work to be done and would like to ask from
each of my resource to enter the number of pages the have edited that day. Is
this possible? Can anyody help me?

Hello Tolga,

In the Resource Sheet view, create a resource "Page" : type = Material.
Assign this Material resource on the task "write the book" : Units = 1000 if
the number of pages is 1000.
In the Task Usage view, add the Actual Work field and enter each day the
number of written pages.

thank you very much, its been a great help
but I still have questions if you dont mind.
I'd like to publish all the necessary information as "remaining paes" and
"pages done " to the project web and want my resources to view all the
necessary information and update their tasks from the related fields. By this
way I would like to create an effective way of tracking the whole process by
the fields I have entered. How can I manage this?

Tolga,
In the Resource sheet, add the word "Pages" in the Material Label.
In any Task view, such as the Task Usage, insert the coloumns Work and
Remaining Work.

I have already added such fields in the task usage view,
I forgot to mention that my resources are updating their work from the web
access and I cannot see the columns in project web access. I want these
columns to be accessible from the web access and everybody can track the
progress via these page numbers..

in the project web access I have tried to add such views as work, remaining
work and so but it still shows these views in hours ormat, not the units ,
can I manage this ?
