I have Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate and Microsoft Project 2007 Pro.

When I open a single project document, i see just one project window on the
task bar, but and press alt+tab or flip 3D I see 2 project windows.

It is a damn annoying bug.

Hi GT,

I don't know if I would classify it as a "bug" but Project 2003 in
Windows XP as well as Project 2007 in Windows XP works in the same
manner. There is an icon for Project and an icon for the Project file
when using ALT + Tab.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

It's not a bug its a common behaviour for all MS aaplication like if you open
two seperate files of excel and if you ALT+TAB it will show 3 icon's instead
of two also for any MS application if you open file and then if u close that
file not a application and then again if you open any file in that
application then it will show only one icon on alt + tab.

Is that a joke?

When I open Excel or Word, there is one icon on the task bar, and only icon
in flip 3d or lat+tab, try that on your machine, try 2003 or higher, I just
tested that with 2007.

A common Office behavior? Are you serious?

If having 2 icons for each office application in the alt+tab and one on the
task bar, let’s have 7 in alt+tab, 5 in flip 3D and none in the task bar,
yeh, let’s annoy the customer a bit more and make working with project more
fun.

It is showing 2 icons for the first opened document and only one on the task
bar, no matter what I do!

You're seeing behaviors that are slightly different based on the application
and are because of how the multiple document interface was implemented
within those applications. This is not an issue with Vista; you'll see the
same results with other versions of Windows as well.

On your task bar, you'll see one entry for each opened project; if you have
"Group similar taskbar buttons" enabled, then you'll just see one. When you
Alt+Tab, you'll see the number of opened projects plus one additional item
which represents the application window and it'll also show the preview of
the active project as well. With Word you'll see exactly what you want.
Excel will show behavior similar to Project's (at least for me it does...).

Word has implemented a true multiple document interface and Project has not
which is part of the reason you're seeing the results you have. It's been
this way since Project 2000 when this was implemented; I've take your
feedback so that we can consider a change in this area in the future.
