Business Contact Manager should be offered as a trial for ACT use.

As a long-time ACT user for contact management, I would like to be able to
have a trial use of Outlook's Business Contact Manager before I decide to
upgrade my current ACT or change to Microsoft's BCM. Is this a possibility? I
found several other trial software options available, yet no trials were
found for the Business Contact Manager... thanks for your consideration

Send me an e-mail, and I'll send you a trial of Office 2003 Professional
(any reseller has that capability, but most don't know about it). Office
2003 Pro will include BCM.

I definitely agree that it should be available on the web.

kvenner,

Best wishes on your trial. Beware however that If you are using a more
recent SQL version of ACT (2005 or 2006) you will not be able to have this
application with its own instance of MSDE co-exist with the BCM version of
MSDE. They will conflict and cause problems when on the same machine
together.

I want to install the Beta 2 version of Outlook 2007 with Business
Contact Manager (which run's on SQL Server Express, not MSDE, I
believe) on the same PC as ACT! 2006 (which runs on MSDE).

I don't necessarily HAVE to have them running them both
simultaneously, although I would LIKE TO, to see if ACT! 2006 will
TALK to Outlook 2007 the way it talks to Outlook 2003.

Do you see a problem between MS Outlook 2007 + Business Contact
Manager 3 & ACT! 2006 (as opposed to Outlook 2003 + BCM 2 and ACT!
2006)?

I know how to start & stop the part of MSDE that ACT! 2006 uses:
net start MSSQL$ACT7
net stop MSSQL$ACT7
