Cache Mode and Calendar

In Outlook 2007, when cache mode is turned on I cannot get my appointments to
stick (they disappear after 10 seconds) nor can I invite people to meetings
(I get a system admin email and the appointment disappears).

When I turn cache mode off, the appointments stick and I can invite people.

Why is this?

I need cache mode as I work offsite and connect from time to time using
mobile broadband.

System specs: Exchange 2003, Outlook 2007 Beta 2
