Cache Setting Corrupting my local global.mpt

H

Hadi

Hello Experts,

I am setup to connect to two different Project Server 2003 instances. One of
them which I'm the administrator on is giving problems. If I start with a
fresh new local global.mpt file, and then log on to that instance I
immediatly get all these custom text and flag fields to show up on my
global.mpt file. Is is a cache issue? I check with one of the other admins
and he does not have that problem. Those text and flag fields, i cant find
them either. i dont know where they're coming from. my enterprise global is
clean

please help

Some concrete examples might help. It sounds like you may be opening a
project that contains all these objects, but you're not providing enough
information.

Gary,

Thanks for the response. Here is what I have now:

I open Project --> select my computer then work offline

A blank project opens up

Under Organizer I click on Fields and I dont see anything under global.mpt
or Project 1. so far so good.

I close Project, re open it, and connect to one of the Server instances I
have setup on my machine. I have two that I use

After I connect, as you know, a blank project schedule opens up again. Under
Organinzer, I click on Fields again, and now I get all of the Enterprise
Fields (which is fine) and also a bunch of non enterprise fields (mostly text
and flag fields). It's worth mentioning that I see those Fields under Project
1 & Global (+Non Enterprise Cache). Now, if I close everything I come back
using My Computer offline, the global.mpt file on my pc now in contaminated
with those fields. I dont know where these fields are coming from.

I hope this makes more sense

thanks,
Hadi

Does sound like a mystery. What happens when you use a different machine?
Same thing? What about if someone else uses your machine?

I checked with one of the other users and they do not see any of these "bad"
fields. I didnt check about somebody using my machine. the ironic thing is
that i just tried again just for fun and i could not see thoese fields.
they're gone I know they'll be back though just not sure what will I be
doing to cause that. the sad thing here is that I'm the Admin on this Server,
and I cannot figure it out

The most likely source is that a project file you're opening during your
session contains these.

I thought about it but how come I see those fields although the only things i
would have open are the enterprise global and a blank file??
