Calculations for Earned Value variables are incorrect

We have had considerable difficulty with earned value calculations in MS
Project (both 2002 and 2003).

Adding project updates (Status date, % complete, actual cost) does not
always update BCWS, BCWP and ACWP correctly. Errors are confined to
individual tasks (some are correct, others are not), and cannot be explained.

Does anyone have similar issues? Any suggestions?

I have seen similar unexplained numbers in the EV calculations and the post
about BCWP seems to be addressing the same problem allthough the use of
multiple base lines clouds the issue slightly. In the process of adding
actual work hours, I have discovered that those numbers will mysterioulsy
change for unexplained reasons. I never enter any values smaller than a
quarter of an hour, and when I check the summary data, I will see decimals
ending in 1,2,or 3. Project seems to be trying to do math on entered actual
values. I am fairly new to Project, but there is no reason in my mind that
entered actual values should ever change, particularly when EV numbers are
affected.
