Is it possible to view the name of the day in the
calendar.
Specially in the workweek view

It does already. What do you see then?
Note that what is showed depends on your Long Date settings in Control
Panel-> Regional and Language Options

In the work week view, make the display of the dates
wider by dragging the vertical line to the left of the
time column further left.

Make sure your long date setting is set to dddd, dd MMMM yyyy under Control
Panel, Regional setting and the Date tab.
