Calendar View

Under one project, we are working on three tasks simultaneously. I would
like each task to show up in a different bar color in Calendar view. From
reading previous Q@A's it seems I could do this by assigning task definitions
arbitrarily as highlighted, external, marked, etc.(options available in
Calendar view for designating bar color). My question is: Where can I
assign these task types that are compatible with the options in formatting
the bar colors in calendar view. Several of the answers said go do this, but
where/how?

Thank you.

abigail37,
This isn't the answer you want to hear but it is the way Project works.
The Calendar view is very limited when it comes to bar formatting. In
the grand scheme of things Project's Gantt Chart bars are pretty limited
also but they are far more flexible than those for the Calendar view.

To answer your question. Highlighted tasks are those that have been so
designated for use in a highlighting filter. Individual tasks cannot be
identified as "highlighted". External tasks are "ghost" tasks that are
linked in from another project file. Again, individual tasks cannot be
identified as "external". Marked tasks is the exception in that there is
a Marked field which can be used to uniquely identify individual tasks.

So the bottom line is that unless one of your three concurrent tasks is
an external task, one just happens to be part of a highlighting filter
and the third is specifically identified by the Marked field, there is
no way to separately color code your tasks in the Calendar view.

abigail37,
Let me recant the last paragraph in my previous response. It WOULD be
possible to display three concurrent tasks in the calendar view in
separate bar colors if, one task is a normal task, the second task is
part of a highlight filter (it could be the only task in that filter),
and the third task has been flagged by an entry in the Marked field.

So....it is possible, but not real practical.
