Calendar

I need to make a (printable) calendar that does not have days that are the
same width. Since it is for a church, the width of the 'Sunday' column needs
to be about twice the width of the other days of the week. Is this possible?
Are there existing templates that can be adjusted or how else do I do it?
Thanks!

Open a pre-fromatted calendar template...

Maneuver your pointer over the edge of the
Sunday column until you see a double arrow...
then left click / drag the line to the width you
require. You may have to make a few other
adjustments to balance it all out but this should
solve the issue.

I have the same problem. I changed the template and saved it with the
columns the width I want for all the days. Some days are wider then others.
However, when I change the date range any new months added are the same as
the original template. Why?? How do I create the calendar template so that
it maintains the widths I want?

Edited adjustments are not carried through when you change the date range. The
best solution would be to edit your calendar manually, copy/paste eleven times.
Tab through the calendar dates. It doesn't take all that long.
I would suggest you start your year with a six row month when you select date
range. For example May 2009 is a six row month. Just change the month name and
tab through the dates.

Actually it does take a long time. I have too many tasks to perform in a day
and to have to change every single month's table formatting in the document
is tedious work that shouldn't have to be done. Especially if you change
information and use the calendar year after year. What do you mean tab
through the dates? Do you mean tab to each cell and type in the appropriate
dates? That means I have to know what day of the week every day falls on.
If we can save a template it should save all the formatting settings and
apply them. What's the point of the Template and saving Templates if it
doesn't save formatting? Especially for a Calendar template where all dates
are filled in for you.

You change your yearly calendars every day?!
What do you mean tab through the dates? Do you mean tab to each cell
and type in the appropriate dates?

Yes. It can be done ridiculously quickly - the key sequence
1 TAB 2 TAB 3 TAB 4 TAB 5 TAB 6 TAB...
Use more than one finger.
That means I have to know what day of the week every day falls on.

No it doesn't. You can find out from the previous year's calendar what
day of the week the new year will start on. From that, all the other
dates will follow logically. It's not like the calendar jumps around
(the first of January is a Saturday, and the second is a Tuesday...
would make for a rather interesting calendar, certainly).
What's the point of the Template and saving
Templates if it doesn't save formatting? Especially for a Calendar
template where all dates are filled in for you.

Publisher's wizards are strictly non-editable. The templates are to
create a static publication to which you can add more later; normally a
blank for a newsletter or similar. Just because Publisher lets you save
a document created from a calendar wizard as a template, it doesn't mean
either that it should be done or that it will work exactly as you expect.

Certainly having the ability to automagically reformat calendars based
upon design changes to a single month would be a great feature, but it
is hardly easy to implement.

Not every day. However I teach computer classes and the days and times for
classes change every 4 weeks. And some items require more width for the
columns. Sat and Sun aren't really used. So I shrink those days and make
Tues and Thurs wider. I have to do this for every month because when I add
months for the coming year it creates the calendar templates default
settings. Granted I really only go into this file every 3 months and do the
major set up of the schedule, but I make minor changes every month. However,
it is still time consuming to change the width of every column for every
month I add.

I know you are giving me the best answer available, but it does get
frustrating that Microsoft doesn't do in my opinion some obvious programming
to make something work. Publisher tables don't even have the same formatting
as Word tables do. In Publisher you can only change widths by dragging. In
Word you can drag or go into Table Properties to make changes. This should
be the same in both programs, all the bells and whistles.
