Callouts move or disappear

Hi ddt,

Can you provide an example of the steps you're taking to create the callouts and when you notice them moving or disappearing? Do
they not show in certain documents, in certain views, on screen but not print, etc.

=======================
How do I get callouts to stay where I put them? I'm using Word in Office 2003.>>

Hi Bob:
Yes. I am working on a large book with frequent changes. I have recenlty
begun using the Master Document feature to keep the file sizes smaller but it
doesn't seem to make any difference for losing the callouts.
I usually import a picture into the paragraph. Then click the AutoShapes
arrow on the Drawing toolbar. I select the style I want and position it over
the picture. I almost always add an arrow to it. I format both the callout
and the text inside the callout. When I have made a lot of additions or
changes, I save the document.
Sometimes the callouts will jump to another location or disappear entirely
when I do anything to change the position of text - delete a paragraph,
insert a page break, add another picture. Sometimes everything looks fine
and I save the file. I come back the next day and open the file, the
callouts have moved.
Sometimes I will be going over text I had recently edited and suddenly old
callouts that had been lost have appeared. Sometimes they are mostly outside
the margins of the document. If I can see a tiny bit of it (it's always
red), then I can move it back into the text.
Thank you for your help.
