Can an action button be triggered automatically?

I designed a slide show this past weekend in which I needed to run
through the first 100 slides to begin with, but then after that, loop
just the first 50 over and over. I wanted it all to run automatically,
but the best I could do was create an invisible action button on slide
100 which I had to manually activate and which linked to a custom show
containing only slides 1-50. I was hoping that somehow on slide 100,
this button (or just the custom show) could be triggered automatically
without my stepping in.

Does anybody have any solutions for the future?

Consider using a playlist.
Save the last 50 slides as a separate presentation.
Remove the loop until ESC from the first presentation, keep it in the second
presentation.
Create a playlist of the 2 files. It should run through the first slideshow
and advance to the second slideshow automatically and then loop the second
slideshow.

I totally agree with PPTMagician suggestion.
Using a playlist and creating two different slideshows would be a
feasible way to settle your problem.
