Can different office applications be mixed - 2nd post

This is my second post, hoping that someone new may come across this and
provide a solution.

I currently have Office 97 professional installed on my PC.

I have also recently acquired a Sony Ericcson P800 smartphone which allows
synchronisation with Outlook. Unfortunately, it has to be Outlook 2000 or
above for it to work.

As there are a number of 'features' of Word 2000 (and above) which I detest,
my question is the following.

If I buy a copy of Office 2000 Professional (I am using Win 98SE) is it
possible to install everything from Office 2000, but keep my Word 97 in
place - not install Word 2000. Will everything still work, or will there be
problems with DLLs (for example) which will give incompatibility problems as
the old versions may have been overwritten.

Basically, as the header states, is it possible to mix the Office
applications, using some from Office 97 and others from Office 2000 without
problems?

TIA,

Martin

Buy a copy of Office 2000 and just install Outlook.. you are not obliged to
install all of Office if you don't want it.. regarding Word 2000 and the
features that you do not like, I was a confirmed WordPerfect 7 fan, but
because of compatibility issues with XP, I switched to MS Office.. it took a
while for me to get used to the new stuff, and there are still features in
WP that I would like to see in MS Word but, generally speaking, I have
become accustomed to the way of Word, and use it quite happily..

There comes a point where we all have to move on..
