Can hyperlinks in a web-based slide show open a new window?

I have a slide show with links to other web sites as well as internal .pdf
documents. The slide show currently starts over every time viewers follow a
hyperlink. I can't set outside web sites to return to a bookmark so I want
the hyperlinks to open up a new browser window. Is this possible? Other
ideas?
