Can I change the design template 'within' a Powerpoint presentati.

I want to change the design templates within my Powerpoint presentations so
as to add variety. How can I do this

It all depends on what version of PowerPoint you are running and whether you
want to use multiple templates in a presentation or you just want to change the
template for the entire presentation.

I have a similar question....I want to have multiple templates in one
presentation, however, whenever I try to change the template, it changes the
entire presentation to the new template.

Assuming that you have PPT 2002 or 2003, instead of just clicking on the
master you want to apply, click the drop down arrow for the master you want
applied. One of the options on the list is "Apply to Selected Slides". That
should do what you need.
