Can I download OLB files from older versions of Office?

M

MikeR

I am a developer and recently I wrote a program to access Excel to create a
report from an Access database. It worked fine with 2003, but the user had
2000 installed on his computer and it crashed. The solution was to copy
Excel9.olb from his computer and use it as the reference rather than
referencing my version of Excel, even though all of the commands I used were
valid in 2000.

Is there a resource where I can download the OLB files from older version of
Office for each of the Office programs so I can prevent this problem in the
future?

Have you tried MSDN?

Yes, I searched MSDN and got a lot of responses to the search, but nothing
that told me how to obtain the old object library files.

Not even the old SDKs?

I didn't think of that, although I should have. Do you happen to know the key
words to make the search easy? If not, I'll just search on Office SDK and see
what I get.

Thanks.

After re-reading your original question, the Office 2000 SDK may not be
available as Microsoft was obliged to remove Office 2000 from distribution
after the Sun settlement. It has been gone since January of 2003. Good
luck in your hunt.

Perhaps you can pursue private resources who may have the SDK such as your
professional or peer resources.
