Can I load Office 2000 Professional with Works Suite?

I have Microsoft Works Suite 2001 already on my computer but want to install
Office 2000 so that I can have Power Point. Can I have both on my computer
or do I need to uninstall Works Suite first? If I uninstall Works Suite
first will I loose all my word files and documents?

Both Works Suite 2001 and Office 2000 include Word 2000, and you will run
into problems if you have two copies of Word 2000 installed on the same
computer. The easiest solution is to choose "custom installation" when you
install Office 2000, and make sure that Word 2000 is NOT selected in the list
of components to be installed from the Office 2000 CD.

Sorry to disagree G&O, but having the Works version of Word will play havoc when trying to install any patches or SPs for Office 2000. It is better to remove Works, do a custom install and NOT install Word in Works, and then install the full Office suite.

It is a little tidbit I have learned through trial and error and getting the odd error message about not having the right file when updating a mixed Works/Office

You could install Office using the "custom" install feature and select
Power Point only. That might do what you want?

If you don't want to create Power Point files but you want to display
them, you can download a free Power Point viewer from Microsoft.
