Can I lock guides in PowerPoint?

Is there a way to lock the drawing guides in a template? Thanks.

Also, I have made a master slide with no placeholders, but when I apply the
design in regular view, it automatically adds text boxes for me. Any way to
get around that?

Thank much!

Unfortunately, there's not. There are a bunch of workarounds -- use the grid
instead, draw your own lines to represent guides and place them on the
master and delete when you're finished, etc. -- but there's no really
*excellent* workaround.

Well, you can't really get around that, either. The master slides aren't
really designed so that the main placeholders (body text and title text) can
be added or deleted. Best thing to do is to use the Blank slide layout. It
doesn't have text placeholders at all, so there's nothing for it to pull
from the master. That's what the blank slide layout was designed for.
