Can I save custom report views in Project?

We just started using MSP2003, and aren't sure if we can save a view that we
created from a custom report. Obviously, we can print it, but is there a way
to save the actual view (we've removed some fields and added in others to
create a report the way we want to see it) without having to print and scan
it in, and without having to buy additional software?

If additional software is the answer, would that be Acrobat, or is there
another application out there that can provide the same result?

Jessica,
Unfortunately the built-in (and custom) reports are print only. Although
custom report formatting can be saved, the content of the report cannot.
However there are several options.

The easiest option may be a custom view in lieu of a custom report. Task
type views (i.e. Gantt Chart, Task Sheet, etc.) will emulate many of the
built-in reports and one of the usage views (i.e. Task or Resource) can
often emulate one of the timescaled reports.

For your reference a view in Project is made up of three parts, a
screen, a view table, and a filter. Each of these parts is customizable
by the user and can be further modified with grouping and/or sorting.
You might want to read about custom views in the help file.

There is also an advanced feature of Project that can effectively be
used to create whatever type of view you need. Like most Microsoft
applications, Project includes Visual Basic for Applications. With VBA,
virtually any Project data can be captured, modified and either used to
populate spare fields to create specially formatted views within
Project, or the data can be exported to another application (e.g. Excel)
that has more formatting flexibility than Project.

If you still need more help, providing a more detailed description of
what data you want to see would help us to provide a more definitive
answer.

Hope this helps.
