Can MS Project do this for me?

I'm a complete newbie to MS Project and I would like to ask if Project
can do this for me (and my dept):

Can it track audits? By that I mean, important dates, where we are in
the process, what we have done and what we need to get done, how much
time we have for each part of the process?

I may have more to ask but let's start with that. Thanks!

t3nchi,
Your question is pretty generic. It asks about a specific use (i.e.
audits). Project is a planning and scheduling application. If you are
scheduling audits where those audits are interactive (i.e. have dynamic
dependencies on one another), then yes, Project can help plan and track
those audits. On the other hand, if all you want is a check sheet, (i.e.
your audits are independent and have specific defined dates), then you
would probably be better off using a spreadsheet application such as
Excel.

I suggest you download a trial version of Project and give it a try.
However, I'll warn you up front that Project is not a intuitive,
quick-learn type application. You must be willing to invest some time in
learning how to use it properly or you will get very frustrated and
confused. Of course, this newsgroup is here to help with specific
questions.
