Can not format arabic text in word 2000

I have a problem with a word document that has some arabic text. In word 2000
it is not possible to change the font size of the text in the document. When
I forwarded it on to someone with Office XP there was not an issue with this.

Can anyone shed any light on this, as I do not want to keep forwarding my
documents onto my friend with Office XP, as this will cause hassle
