Can not use Publisher 2k vs Publisher XP 2k2

I can not use my existing Publisher 2000 with an XP
Publisher created .pub file. I basically bought a Dell
w/ MS Office XP Small Business Edition w/Word, Outlook,
Excel and Publisher. But now I try to use Publisher XP
and I can not open a Publisher 2000 originated file. Am
I now forced to upgrade just because I'm in version 2000
rather than XP??? Please, please, please, please HELP!!!
