can Office be installed without Outlook (pro 03)

And/or can Outlook Express be the default mail handler if oulook is installed??

I certainly installed it. I only have Word and Excel installed (along with
various programs that support them).

When installing Office, do a "custom" installation and pick and choose only
the things that you're absolutely sure you *want*. Leave the Office CD in
the drive for a couple of weeks and as you use those programs, the
additional features that you *need* will be installed (more or less)
automatically.
