PowerPoint does not let you animate single words within a text frame
individually. You will need to either create individual textboxes for the
words in the text frame or cover the words individually with
semi-transparent shapes. Both of these methods are time consuming to
set-up.
You can have the words animate in by word, but the timing of these can not
be controlled to match the music.
To do this better, you should create a movie file with the words and music
combined (and therefore they stay in sync). Inserting this movie into
PowerPoint will also allow the operator to start the song and sit back,
instead of trying to manually time the animation advances to the sounds in a
live performance.
Windows Movie Maker 2 is available for free download from Microsoft's
download site, but there are many no or low cost video apps available.
