Cannot Add Additional Contacts in Microsoft Outlook XP

I have Microsoft Outlook XP and used to be able to add additional contacts to
my Microsoft Outlook XP address book. For some reason, I cannot add
additional contacts to my address book. Suggestions and reasons would be
appreciated. Thanks

Contacts are never added to the address book. They are added to the Contacts
Folder.
Can you do that?
