Cannot change default font in Outlook 2000 WORD editor

I use Word to edit e-mail messages in Outlook 2000. I can
create different styles, but am unable to change the
default style (which shows as my name) no matter what I
do. I change it,say update the template and still it
comes back as Arial 10pt. I have even tried deleting it
but it comes back. I can create other styles, but the
default always stays the same even if I assign default to
another style.
