Cannot delete e-mail - receive error message cannot access outlook.pst

When I try to delete an e-mail message I receive an error
message 'outlook.pst could not be accessed'

I don't know the solution to this issue.

Try pressing the shift key and delete key simultaneous,

this should permanently delete the msg.
