Cannot make IIS database connection after opening Access

Guys:

Just hoping SOMEONE can point me in the right direction.
On the XP forum my message simply gets deleted and an ASP
forum has produced no hints. If anyone can just tell me of
a forum or service I can escalate this to, it would be a
really big help.

I have a new laptop, XP Pro with Office 2000, Access
(9.0.3821 SR-1), IIS server, VBScript. Things are working
OK on the desktop.

All scripts run fine. BUT, if I even open and close the
Access DB directly (via Office 2000/Access), the
connections no longer work. (the script can utilize the
DB, opening it that way:

"Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers (0x80004005)
[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver]General error
Unable to open registry key 'Temporary (volatile) Jet DSN
for process 0xa2c Thread 0xb94 DBC 0x1010064 Jet'."

I don't believe I should take this error message too
literally. I also get it if I leave a slash out in the
connection string syntax. Info on this error talks about
running regedit. I have solved most problems related to
this error by making less drastic changes.

I've also gotten an "undetermined source" error or
something like that.

Would like to get some ideas about where to start. (If you
do suggest things about XP security, please provide as
many details as you have the patience for. That's pretty
new to me.)

Thanks.
