Cannot maximize open emails

I have a W2k machine with Outlook 2K. When Outlook is
open and I open an email and minimize the message, I
cannot open the minimized message by left-clicking on the
task bar. All I get is a beep from the cpu. If I minimize
the entire outlook application (inbox) I can then maximize
the minimized message by left clicking. I ran a repair on
office to no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
