cannot move or delete emails in Outlook 2000

Every time I try to delete or move an email message I get
an error message stating cannot move files.

Try hold down shift and then press delete to permanently delete it. Works
for me...

I figured it out on my own. The Outlook.PST file was too
large. I archived and compacted the file and everything
works now.

That worked for me as well. Any way you know of for the
delete option on the menu to work correctly?
