cannot open files till i get previewers, what are these?

i sometimes get emails that i cant open because it says i need to install
previewers, what are these and where do i get them from?

If you are referring Word, Excel or Powerpoint files, Microsoft offers free,
downloadable viewers that allow you to view and print these files without
needing to install any version of the program.

For example
