Cannot open mdb from Windows explorer

Hi,

I have a user who cannot open an Access 2003 database from a shortcut or by
double clicking on the file itself when another user has the database open.
He can, however, open the file by first opening Access and then using the
"File -> Open" dialog. If no other users are in the database then he can
double click and open it as normal.
No other users experience this problem, all users have same NTFS permissions
and Security Group memberships.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Grant

I'd double - no triple - check that all users have read, write, create, and
delete privs for the entire folder and not just the database.

Next I'd go to Windows Explorer and select Tools, Folder Options, File Types
tab on the computer that has problems. See what it says about various MD file
types. Click on MDB and MDE and make sure that they are pointed to Access.

Yep, done all that.

Since the user is using a Terminal Services session I tried logging him in
on a different TS box with the same account details. Therefore the
permissions will be the same and the only difference will be his profile
(non-roaming). Lo and behold with a new profile it works fine - so I'm
guessing it must be something in his existing profile. This would explain why
other users with the same security group memberships and identical
permissions were able to open the database when logged in to the same TS box.

The issue now is that I don't want to delete his regular profile from his
normal login server and need to find out what in the existing profile might
be causing it?
