Cannot open Power Point message

Power Point attachment will not open. I get the
following message "This file does not have a program
associated with it for performing this action. Create an
association in the Folder Options control panel."
I recently applied Microsoft Office Standard Edition 2003
to both my Dell Home Computer & my Dell laptop.
Can you help? Thanks, Shirley

Well, you can open PowerPoint and then open the file from the File > Open menu.

You can also set the file association. See the following:
