Cannot Preview FIle

Why when in Outlook 200 or 2002 I try to insert/attach a
file to a new email, when this process takes me to the
file insert dialogue, can I NOT preview the file?
Strange. Even Office docs cannot be viewed.

All I get is file names and when I click on preview it
says "file cannot be previewed".
